Stand by Edsel and Lee

We have decided to start a GoGetFunding account for Nanay Minda (Edsel’s Mum) to cover the ballooning hospital expenses of her treatment here in Australia.

Nanay flew to Canberra last August 2017 to help Edsel and Lee care for their little Arya. She is scheduled to go back to the Philippines on 17 January 2018. As fate would have it, Nanay Minda suffered a stroke the weekend before her flight back and was rushed to Canberra Hospital. As of writing, the cause of blood clot is still unknown. Our strong Nanay survived the stroke. To progress her treatment, her doctors advised that the goiter in her neck will need to be surgically removed as it prevents her from breathing normally. Nanay has again bravely survived the surgery. Nanay is currently being looked after and has a fair chance of survival. Her spirit is strong and her prayer warriors are storming the heavens.

While the emotional support is robust, the family has to face the growing mountain of bills that comes with the treatment. We have yet to hear from the insurance if the hospital expenses, ICU treatment, surgery, and medication will be covered. Since Nanay’s goiter is a pre-existing condition, there is that off chance that it will not.
